On Tuesday evening (October 18th) I received more sad news from S. Africa. Another one of our sponsored children has died from AIDS. Her name was Lucia Simelane and she was 13 years old. Her grandmother having lost Lucia's parents to AIDS is now suffering the grief of losing her grandaughter.

At the same time I was told of the death of Nancy's son, he died from TB. Nancy is the African Project manager at the Thandukuphila Centre in Kwazulu. Nancy works week in week out without a break. Daily at the centre she deals with great suffering, loss and death and now added to that she has the deep anguish of losing her son.

May we each continue in any way we can to alleviate this great suffering which is not only in Africa but here in our own country and worldwide.
