Latest activity from Chase Lane Primary School

Today, July 10th, Caron Keeley, a teacher at Chase Lane Primary School, and her son Stefan, a pupil there, came to my house. They presented me with £76 which has been raised by the year 4 pupils at the school. This was done by decorating biscuits and selling them in order to raise the £50 school fees for the young girl Qiniso Msweli who the school sponsor educationally.

Going to school has already changed Qiniso's life. Her parents both died of the AIDS Virus and she lives with her grandmother. She was stolen and raped at the age of four and after this she never spoke or smiled or played just stayed huddled up silent and withdrawn. Since going to school she has totally changed. I went to visit her in her school on my last trip to S Africa and she was the most popular and outgoing little girl in the class. Educationally she was ahead of her peers and had a great energy and need to learn. She looked so happy.

Thank you Chase Lane Primary for helping to change this young child's life. With the money raised from the biscuits after the school fees are paid there is money over which I will ask Nancy, the African Project Manager of the children, to buy blankets and whatever else Qiniso's family need.

I know that many people give to needy causes but probably do not get much feedback re the money they have donated but because I am a small charity and know personally the people in Africa who care for the children, many of who I have met on my visits including Qiniso, I know that every penny donated to me is send out and is used for the purpose it was donated for.

I heard that the year 4 children have written letters to Qiniso which very shortly will be sent to her. After meeting and getting to know Qiniso I know how exciting it will be for her to receive them and I know she will be very happy to write back.

Many thanks Year 4 for your wonderful efforts to raise the £76 and gratitude too to the children and parents and staff who bought the biscuits.
