Sad News from South Africa

Today, 28th November I heard from Khanya in South Africa that due to the electricity cuts some of our shacks have again burnt down.

This is due to the use of candles and is a terrible danger for the children as these kind of accidents happen all too frequently.

I am still waiting to hear if any of these accidents are connected to the children we sponsor.

I don't know the answer to this problem because even if the shacks have electricity installed, cuts happen every few days and then candles are the only source of light.

When we have to endure electricity cuts in this country we find this extremely inconvenient but luckily it is a rare event, how blessed we are that it does not happen on a weekly basis.

Life is frequently very hard for the children we try to help and for the many other people affected in this way. I know of hospital wards full of children who have been burnt due to these kind of accidents and I have seen children with horrific scarring resulting from them.
