Sponsor For Abandoned Baby

Yesterday the 25th August, Julie Adesina of St Anne's parish Church became the sponsor for baby Princess, the baby left on Nancy's doorstep approx three weeks ago.

The police who found the mother of the baby have now informed Africa that after leaving the baby and any relevant papers barring a birth certificate on Nancy's doorstep the sick mother then went and threw herself into the river and drowned and that is where the police found her.

This has filled us all here and in Africa saddened but grateful that she left the baby with Nancy.

When Julie heard of the plight of the baby she immediately offered to sponsor her long term so from now until her education has been completed.

I am delighted and relived and very grateful to Julie for this wonderful gesture and in return I know Julie will be delighted to see Princess thriving and growing. Yesterday she gave me £100 towards the baby's essential needs eg diapers and food etc.

Quite underweight when she was found the baby has been tested twice for AIDS but by some miracle the AIDS virus has not passed from the mother to the baby through the breast milk with which she was feeding her. The clinic said although underweight the baby had been loved and cared for and it must have been heartbreaking for the mother to give her up, a real act of love and the underweight situation was caused by the Aids affected mother's milk becoming inadequate for the baby's needs.

In a small space of time she has now doubled that weight and more and weighs approximately 8 kilos, which is remarkable.

I will keep the baby's progress updated on the website from time to time.
