Theft at Thandukuphila Centre

During a telephone conversation with Sr Emmanuel in Kwazulu yesterday evening September 22nd I heard the devastating news of a recent theft at Thandukuphila Centre..

The thieves stole all the toys and clothing that was being collected for the children's Christmas gifts. They also stole vegetables from the vegetable garden and the water container used to collect rain water to water them.

This is a great worry to Nancy and a big loss for the children.

The children have so little left in their lives with the loss of their parents and other family members due to AIDS, that we try to give them a Christmas party and some small gifts enabling them at least at Christmas just to be the children they are and to have some fun and really enjoy themselves.

Shortly One Life will be sending out more funding to S. Africa and I would like some of this money to be put towards giving the children the Christmas they deserve.

We will also have to replace the water container for the next lot of vegetables to grow and not give up because of the recurring thefts and difficulties. It is sad that that these things happen but they are a fairly regular occurence not only in Africa but worldwide.
