Two more tragic deaths in Africa

Yesterday, 19th April, I received the very sad news that one of our young volunteers and an 8 year old little boy Qiniso Zulu were hit by a hit and run car whilst waiting for a bus to take them to the hospital to pick up the ARV drugs for the little boy. The young African volunteer was killed immediately and the small boy was rushed to hospital but sadly they couldn't save him and he died at 7-15pm yesterday evening.

The volunteer was head of a young family (her siblings) their parents having died of AIDS and the eldest of the siblings now left as head of this little family is a teenage boy who is totally devastated to lose his sister as are the younger children. Recently they lost one other sister and were just trying to come to terms with that loss.

So much sadness, all the time. On Monday I will be transferring funding to Africa to pay for the funerals of the young volunteer and the little boy as the families live in dire poverty. I am also able to send small amounts of funding to help the family members who are left with any immediate needs they may have.

The little boy was being looked after by his elderly grandmother as his parents have also died from the AIDS virus. This is such a tragic loss for her.
