Back from Africa

Our trip to S Africa sadly came to it's end last Tuesday and Gwen Cass who came with me and myself arrived back in England on Wednesday 30th April. Since arriving back I have been very tired, probably the flight and the totally different climate and life style.

The trip was a wonderful one and quite varied as between working with the projects and giving help where ever we could we had time for a trip to a game reserve and we were also able to spend two nights in Durban overlooking the beautiful Indian Ocean.

The trip was a mixture of joy and sadness. S Africa and it's people are beautiful but the poverty and sickness and the acceptance of life humbles one and makes one extremely grateful for the way most of us are able to live here in the west.

I will eventually put the next newsletter together and also open a new photo gallery for this year's trip but that will take a little while as I have 600 photos to work through to find the most appropriate ones.

My sincere thanks to all of you who so generously donated towards this trip. Your money was well used and relieved much suffering. We were able to purchase blankets, mattresses, tracksuits, school bags, electricity and the basic items for survival. We both felt blessed and privileged to be in South Africa and to be made so very welcome by the Africans.

It really was a very worthwhile trip and served to keep fresh in my mind how much help and support the people need from charities like mine and the wonderful people connected to them.
