Storm devestation for families and two schools in Nseleni.

As hailstones and heavy rains have hit Nseleni during the past couple of months, I have, by email, been kept up to date on the affect of this. Yesterday I heard that some of the children's homes have been badly affected by the latest storms (even though they are experiencing terrible heat right now and more than likely because of it.)

I also heard that a couple of the schools which our sponsored children attend have been badly damaged by the rain and the children were unable to go to school.

On Sunday the 21st Feb a meeting was held in the afternoon. The outcome was not good for our sponsored children. Because the schools are running on the school fees there is no money put by for repairs so it is a requirement that each child donate R100 approx £10 each to help repair the schools. This does not seem such a large amount but for orphans it is devastating news. Nancy explained about the orphans and that their school fees were paid by sponsors in England as the children's carers were without an income money but the board said that no allowances would be made for the orphans and unless they donated the £10 each they would be allowed into school.

Nancy is very concerned as she has not got the funding pay this money.

I have emailed to ask how many of our children does this affect then I will send the money out as luckily I have just received the charities annual gift aid return.

Unfortunately, funding right now is desperately needed in various other areas so any money used for the schools will mean less money for other needs. The problems which crop up are never ending and always unexpected. If you can help at all with a small donation, please do. Donation details can be found at the top of this page on the right hand side. Thank you.
