Update of Appeal
To date, 2nd June, just over £2,500 has come into the charity, from the appeal, with just a little more promised at a later date.
This is a wonderful and unexpected amount and I am so grateful to everyone who was able to respond to the appeal.
It is hard to imagine living in a broken down shack or mud hut without electricity and water on tap. We all know that being cold can be depressing if it carries on too long but for our children and their carers this is everyday life in the wintertime with no chance of a warm drink or a hot bath and many people still cook in one black pot on an outside fire. It doesn't bear thinking about and yet I cannot stop thinking about it.
We need, at the very least, another £700 to £1000 to make any real impact on the amount of homes which need repair. How to get that money, right now, I just do not know. I just continue to hope and pray that we have a minor miracle shortly, before the African winter really takes its grip on our families and causes more sickness and hardship.
