A Very Unexpected Donation
Yesterday evening, 9th July, an envelope was put through my door. When I opened it I found a letter and a cheque for £5,000.
I honestly felt like I had received an electric shock, that was how my body reacted on seeing this cheque and the vast amount of money it represented.
The letter stated that firstly the donor wished to remain anonymous and secondly that the donor would like me to consider using the funding in two ways, 1). towards college fees for a young person who was greatly motivated and so would greatly benefit from this opportunity and 2). that what was left of the funding would help towards improving infrastructure and communications with the UK and also that it should be used for the basic necessities needed eg goods that Nancy could purchase in bulk saving a vast amount of money in the long run.
The donor was also very happy that some of the funding would be used to pay for the young Down's Syndrome child's next year in the residential special school, whose funding was paid for for this year by my charity One Life.
After having such a wonderful response to the appeal, to receive such a vast donation was the last thing I expected to happen and the possibility of having an opportunity to again place a young person in college is something I thought would never happen again.
I feel truly grateful to the person who has made this happen but I do find it extremely difficult to express in words how I feel and a "thank you" seems so inadequate but are the only words I can find to use, so from the bottom of my heart and on behalf of Nancy and the children "Thank you so very much"
