A Wonderful Donation
Today, 15th December, I received a very unexpected donation of £2,500 from The AD Charitable Trust.
This is such a wonderful amount and nothing short of a miracle which I will explain now.
I have been unwell for quite a while due to the grief at the deaths of the seven young children in Africa, which came about when a wall collapsed on top of them killing seven children between the ages of seven and ten years. This happened where they live and where practising Zulu dancing in the squatters camp. Then with Nancy's husband dying straight after and then losing two very close friends of mine and Thandeka being found by her sister, frozen to death, the grief of that plus the stress of a very busy time for the charity finally got to me and I became ill.
I never want to be so ill again and so decided that to enable me to keep well and keep the charity going I needed to step back a little and also because of the financial difficulties for people trying to raise money for our Annual Sp Walk I decided not to do another one, thereby losing approx £1,000 per year for the charity. On top of that one of my friends who died was also my main fund raiser and so that is another £1,500 a year loss for the charity.
I have decided that my main priorities are to make sure there is enough money in the account to feed all the children and Nancy's household, to keep all the children in education, to keep the little Down's Syndrome child in residential school and to make sure there is funding for a Christmas party for the children. I was concerned because of the £2,500 shortage due to the lack of fundraising next year, when quite unexpectedly this morning the cheque arrived for that very amount and it feelsd like my prayers have been answered.
I am so grateful for this huge donation and it has put my mind at rest for the coming year and the needs of the children. Any extra money received will be a bonus and very very helpful.
